I LOVE David’s song “Zero Gravity”!

David has introduced us fans to a new song on his first solo tour as a headliner. It is called “Zero Gravity” and I love it! See for yourself if you have not had the pleasure of hearing it…

What baffles me is why this song which David helped write, did not make his CD. The ‘powers that be’ who made the decisions about which songs made the album and which did not, in my humble opinion, really did not choose all of his best songs! Case in point…”Somebody Out There” a beautiful song which was only available to those that pre-ordered David’s ‘Deluxe’ Album off of i-Tunes for a limited time only. “Waiting For Yesterday” is another example of that! And now the soon to be released Japanese version of David’s CD has a bonus song called “Save the Day”, another great song that many fans would like to get their hands on but sadly it won’t be easy! And possibly not legal!! Why does the record label play these games?

Now we are seeing and hearing a song that David helped to write called “Zero Gravity”. This song is so upbeat and catchy. David has introduced it on his tour, and he loves singing it. The lyrics are clever and I think it could be a serious hit, but again we fans have no way of getting a studio version of this song. The closest thing is an MP3 download, but the quality is not great and David’s beautiful voice is heard over screams. Not the way I want to hear his wonderful voice on such a cool song.

I hope as David’s star continues to rise, the ‘powers that be’ will wisen up and let David make more of the decisions about what will go on his albums. David is a talented writer and I for one want to hear more of “his stuff”, which I think is better than some of the other songs that were written by the ‘top song writers’ in the industry and put on his album. Don’t get me wrong, David could sing “The Alphabet Song” and I would love it. No one to me, sings the way he does. But I want to hear everything David sings and for some reason, the record company is not giving us fans all that we want! Again just my humble opinion but this is how I feel.

Take care all, 😉
Katie

Sometimes I think “clueless” must be the number one quality of music executives. When it comes to David, they really don’t seem to know what a treasure they have on their hands. They are so accustomed to categories and genres; however, David blasts those definitions out of the water. He is not to be typecast into some narrow-minded formulaic way of thinking.

Due to the short-sightedness of the folks at Jive/Zomba, “Works for Me” (a favorite of mine) is relegated to a bonus track on a version of the CD available only through Walmart, and “Zero Gravity” is given the boot. Watching videos of David performing these two songs, it’s obvious how much he loves singing them. They both have a soulful quality, but are fun and upbeat at the same time. Both songs (together with “A Little Too Not Over You”) demonstrate what an incredibly talented singer/songwriter David is becoming. Now, if Jive/Zomba would just wise up by trusting in David’s musical instincts and by stepping out of the way, his next album will be awesome indeed.

I believe the JIVE bigwigs were at the NJ concert and now after seeing who David’s audience is, and everything David is able to do as a performer, I hope now they will start seeing just how much a gem David really is, and stop holding him back!

Love this article. I have to wait till the 20th of March but it will be worth it. I can’t wait to give him my drawing of him. I think he will have the proverbial jaw drop reaction every one else has had.
I have about two more weeks to finish it. The watch out every one.

lyrix: I read the same thing at mjsbigblog. Now that Jive music executives have witnessed the reception this song has been given from the public, I’m feeling optimistic it will be officially released on David’s next album. In fact, I’m thinking that “Zero Gravity” is the perfect name for his next CD, excluding, of course, his Christmas album.
