Murray Theater on the National Register of Historic Places

Tonight—right now!—Michael Johns and Brooke White are playing a concert at the Murray Theater with native Utahn Benton Paul. David Archuleta plans to meet up with his American Idol alums. They’ll probably have a party afterward.

My sister took this photo of the Murray Theater last October when we were there. It’s a pretty good photo, considering that I didn’t stop the car. We should have stopped and taken a look inside. Built in 1938 Murray Theater survives as one of Salt Lake County’s best examples of the Art Moderne style.

The theatre is located at 4961 South State Street in Murray, Utah. It was opened just in time to screen two of Hollywood’s first major color films: Gone with the Wind and The Wizard of Oz.

As God is my witness…if only I had a brain…I’d be in Murray now!

    Minna,
Love this post and as you know by now, the concert was amazing and David did join Brooke, Michael and Paul on stage for two songs. “Let It Be” and “Proud Mary”. David was his usual sweet self and when he was given the opportunity he really wailed on the parts he sang. He really hit some high notes on “Let It Be” and he
showed his soulful style on “Proud Mary”.

Here are links to those videos! 😉

And I wish I could have been there too!

    Take care,
