Nick Masuda of Orlando Sentinel – Orlando, Florida

Crowd amped after Archuleta sizzled in a 45 minute set, proving that his sheepish style during his run on AI might have been an act! The teenager commanded the stage. No one has ever questioned Archuleta’s pipes, and he was in stellar form Sunday, especially with CRUSH!

NOTE: No one should question David’s character either! – “An act”? Obviously this reviewer hasn’t covered David very closely!

Kate – drummer for KSM is here! What a pleasant surprise HAHA!
Orlando today, More family coming to show!
It amazes me how involved all you fans are with charity work! Thank you so much for that. It’s the best gift you can give.
Loved hangin with the family I found, invited my 2nd cousins to the show tonight.

“How Great Thou Art!”

David Archuleta sang this at a VIP meet Sunday August 2, 2009 after VIPer’s convinced him no one would be offended. How great was that? Always thinking of fans!

How many views has this reached? Over 41,000 and climbing! Perfection is difficult to resist! A real crowd-pleaser!

Had a Lol with cousins at Disney World today. Went to the American Idol Experience haha
Sad this day is already coming to an end. I wish it could keep going! Lol. But had such a great time with family and friends.

VIP Florida Experience

From Archuleta Fanscene – Marc’s Experience 8/2/09 – Posted 8/3/09

David, space cadet at VIP, said “Im loopy in the brain”, sitting at piano, said he smelled chocolate – chocolate fountain in back of room. “Oh there’s food!” Got up from piano and starts to eat! Finishes and goes back to piano! Crowd thought he was pretty funny.

While singing Crazy – stops in the middle of the song, looks at one of the teens in front of him and asked, “what are you doing?” David is ALWAYS nice, but you could tell he was annoyed, everyone was a little shocked because he stopped the song so abruptly. Then he starts softly singing “who do you think you are?” – Well this teen was doing something with her phone like cell casting which is a big no no at the VIP meets. Kristin later told me that David, knowing that people paid a lot of money to attend the VIPs, wants it to be special and not on YouTube.

Let me Think! Oh yeah! DAVID ARCHULETA

This morning Twitter asks the question, “Who’s your favorite musician on Twitter and why?” Well, I think we can all answer that one! How many Honeybees voted in this catagory? Did we get him a win? We sure did and spent many hours devoted to make sure he stayed way ahead. Sometimes the little things make a difference. Interesting that the Grammys are asking this question as I am sure they know who won. Now, we just need him nominated for the Grammys, of course, first he needs to collect all his surfboards. I know David doesn’t surf but I do see him riding the wild wave. Ahh, such hard work carrying all those boards!!!

Human Interest

MSNBC reports Paula Abdul will not be returning for another season of American Idol. We wish her the best and thank her for many memorable entertaining shows.

David Blogs – August 4, 2009

David misses solo shows, and he feels like he can relate to the audience so much more. For the Kentucky show he is going to be trying a more toned down set of the same songs he’s been doing, but where the audience can focus more on the music and vibes.

Greenville, North Carolina – VIP Meet and Greet

Caterer at the Meet and Greet said “that’s the first time I heard you sing. I think I might go buy your album.” haha! Just think how many more people would buy David’s music if they heard him. This brings us to the present issue of more exposure and promoting for David is needed by his Label and those who support him. I want to see his face, hear his voice and read that his numbers are rising every day. Only the tip of the iceberg has melted; we have a lot more chipping away and my trusty ice pick is ready and willing to do what is necessary to sculpt his success.

August 5, 2009

According to many sources on Twitter, there was a no-camera rule strictly enforced for the Louisville, Kentucky show. NO CAMERAS, NO VIDEOS.

Acoustic Show – David decides not to wear his in-ears so he can hear fans sing with him. “Sing,” he commands. He comments on how special this night is and how much he’s been waiting to do an acoustic show, and that he wants it to be between him and his fans.

Very comfortable with small crowd, all smiles and giggles and voice in TOP FORM.

Rockford – Ugh I can’t stand it when the lights blind me from seeing the audience. But tonight’s show was still fun. Thanks Rockford

From Archuleta Fanscene: Apparently there will be a solo Christmas tour in November and December and it will include other songs as well as Christmas songs. An official announcement will be made in a few weeks.

August 6, 2009

Radio Interview – Z104 Madison Wi – Connie and Fish – David laughing and giggling! Cute interview, side-stepped a couple of questions he didn’t want to answer. Worth listening to—about 11 minutes long.

David Wowed them in Rockford, appeased fans and sang Desperate. He Killed it! But I loved I’ll Be! Smooth and Cool! David wanted spotlight off and to turn up the house lights -to see fans! Isn’t he the greatest!

August 7, 2009

Kurt Bestor (kbestor), Singer/Songwriter, is working with David on a few songs.

Recording Archuleta vocal tracks. Too bad it has to be via video chat. Aint nothing like the real thing.

That’s me in upper RH corner producing David Archuleta, me Utah. He’s in Minnesota, gotta love technology

David practicing French lyrics….Sounds tres cool to me!

Last day for voting for the TCA – David deserves to receive one of these awards if not all!

August 8, 2009

Target Center – Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Purple Shirt People Fan Pleaser David Archuleta was fabulous tonight. Hey Chris Allen, Do you like solids? In the VIP Meet David said his voice was tired from recording yesterday and today. He Changes a few things to preserve his voice, bu he was fantastic as usual and seem to like the crowd in Minnesota.

David – Twittering this AM

Don’t know whyy, there’s no sun up in the skyy, stormy weather. HaHa. It’s been pretty stormy in Minneapolis 10:22 AM Today.

OMG, he’s so cute, Stormy Weather – Surprised he even knew that song! But our Archie knows a lot!

Ok I sent 2 twitter text things today and neither of them went through! bah! So I’m just going to send them both now anyway lol.

“In the studio booth right now. HaHa Woo hoo Christmas Music!” 12:04 PM

David’s album on Delta Airlines and Singapore Airlines! – So now we don’t care how long or cramped the flight might be! Not me! HaHa!

Snarky Archies – Ohio State Fair – David Cook — Someone brought to Cook’s show an “i love David Archuleta” T-Shirt and Cook brought it on stage. He was joking with the crowd when they yelled in excitement as he propped up the shirt on stage. He promised to give the shirt back to the fan but also announced she will be given one for the show she was attending. Everyone laughed!

pikepss’ Pick of the Week

My shirt is better!

My shirt is better!

Who wears it better! David 100% – Kris – 0% – Ok, But it’s my column! My decision! In my humble opinion David always makes a positive fashion statement. This is not the first double exposure look a like shirt. Previously Kris Allen wore the same shirt David had on at last year’s TCA Show. Remember the yellow checkered one? Kris is a year behind David in fashion or is it he knows that David just has the right stuff?

Update 8/8/09 – Chris Allen has now copied David Archuleta’s plaid shirt craze!! When will it stop? Maybe David should just pass on all his shirts when he finishes with them to Chris. They say that imitation is the greatest form of flattery! Perhaps, they should go shopping together – David loves to shop!!!

“Maybe I’m Amazed” – New Song – Paul McCartney’s 1970 – David is asking fans if they can guess what song he is playing on the keyboard at some of his VIP meets. Get ready fans, another great cover by David! Solo Tour or on Album?

Here are just a few lines of “Maybe I’m Amazed” to grab you. With a new arrangement and a few “oh yeah, yeah, yeah’s”, David would have us in the palm of his hand!

Baby, I’m amazed at the way you love me all the time,
and maybe I’m afraid of the way I love you.
Maybe I’m amazed at the way you pulled me out of time,
you hung me on the line.
Maybe, I’m amazed at the way I really need you.

Wow, I LOVE this!!! You have helped me catch up on so much that I missed while I was on a little vacation. This is a great post. You put so much time and effort into it and well, I am not sure what to comment on first!! ; )

One thing I did want to mention was how right you are about “Bubbly”. David sang it beautifully, but some may not know that he never really practiced it before that concert. He made a very last minute decision to “try” it and in pure David fashion…he apologized before hand to his audience, in case he messed up! Then he invited them to help him with the words if that happenend! He is really something, huh!! 😉
By now most of us have seen the rest, he performed it beautifully and wowed everyone!

I LOVE the way you added all of David’s tweets! Even though I am following him, I have not had time to read them in the last week, so thanks. He is so cute and amusing with the things he shares. I can’t believe the songs he knows…like “Stormy Weather” that’s an old one!!

You have truly done a tremendous job here pikepss. Again thank you, for all your reporting and keeping us fans up-to-date on all that has been going on with David in the last week! Can’t wait for your next installment!

    Take care,

What a great idea! Thank you so much for taking the time to gather all this information in one place! I’ve passed it on to my twitter followers – hope many of them will check it out!

Great job, Pam! You are awe-some and some more! And believe me, I know this took a lot of real work. bigarchiefan, it’s so cool what you said about having a DA news wrap-up, especially with summer vacations. Hey, thanks karenkid for the tweet. Pam deserves lots of KUDOS!

  • sweetbee | 4 | 9th August 2009 at 7:33 pm |

You did a wonderful job! most of this stuff I didn’t even know about so thanks for getting me up to date. I know this took you alot of time and effort and I truly appreciate it. Wow! David has been a very busy guy for sure. I am so happy that his tour and solo concerts are going so well for him. Its wonderful to hear the VIP stories. I can’t wait to hear more. thanks again pam for this. Great job!

  • Katheryn | 5 | 10th August 2009 at 1:06 am |

Pam: Thank you so much for your Archu-recap! As I’m reading through it, I realize how much I missed out on this past week. Tuesday’s news convinces me I need to sign up for Twitter. I didn’t even know about that poll until I read it here.

I hate to jump the gun, but next week’s edition is going to be so sweet with the fab news about the TCA’s!

  • robin711 | 6 | 10th August 2009 at 4:22 pm |

Pam, this column is awesome. So many of the fan sites of covered with videos and pictures, which are great, but the news gets lost in the shuffle. I found 3 or 4 things I missed here like the radio interview. Thanks for doing such a great job in wrapping up the week neatly in one spot!

  • Cathy (unregistered) | 11th August 2009 at 5:35 am |

Awesome! Now I know exactly where to come, when I need to catch up on all things David in a hurry!

  • minja | 7 | 11th August 2009 at 8:14 am |

bigarchiefan, I enjoyed reading your article on CDC about “Bubbly.” Good job! David is an amazing interpreter of song. It is his language. I heard him sing “Lean on Me” with his friend Ashlee and heard lyrics there that I never did before.

    baf’s Bubbly article, August 7.
