At first hearing this song it was not my favorite and I only listened when the entire album was playing as I was driving to work or around the house catching up on my Archie Duties!  But a funny thing happened one night at one of David’s concerts: it hit me that this was one of the most edgy melodies and trades vocal gymnastics for pure power.  It serves well to display the purity and power of his golden vocals.  The heartbreak in his eyes and body language gives us an insight to the passion he feels when he sings this song.  It is now one of my top three song choices. 

David’s face reveals such intensity and on occasion watching him he sparkles and shines like stars in heaven. God does watch over him. My heart and head sometimes are spinning with memories of the first time he sang Heaven and how much he has developed as an artist. Whenever I read a post from a fan that just saw him in concert, I am jealous that I wasn’t there to see what they saw.  He belongs on stage, that is his home now.  In a sea of faces I can only hope he sees his most ardent fans and knows his music has touched, hypnotized and mesmerized us.

The new members of his band seem to be blending well within such a short time frame.  There were many cries of admiration at the concert in Del Mar.  David Archuleta will always give us his best and by far this song is one of them.  Let’s enjoy it together!

When David sings about being taken “sailing” in someone’s deepest eyes, well honestly I feel like a teenage girl all over again. I love the way David’s voice can give you butterflies! Truly, the way he sings the lyrics to some of his love songs, it gives me goosebumps. Not many singers today can make you feel their song, but David does. I guess I would use the word ‘swoon’ when I am talking about David’s music. Yep, that’s the word…his voice makes you want to swoon! His voice has that affect on us, doesn’t it ladies! I may be old, but I am not deaf!! 😉

FOD Fan Pack Promotion Cards by Monica and Nat

Monica, AKA StarryNites, and her designer friend Nat have created Promo Cards for David’s fan pack available on Fans of David. The cards include information about purchasing David’s Fan Pack, as well as some links to his favorite charities. They are looking for volunteers to print and distribute them. I had the pleasure of seeing David perform at the Hartford, CT show on June 21st, 2009. This was the first show on the tour and I must say David was, as usual, simply amazing! However, I am still having trouble believing that David Archuleta is the opening act. I know it really doesn’t matter, because David shines on that stage, and he is winning many people over. I witnessed that myself.

When I got to my seat at the venue, all around me were Demi Lovato fans. I struck up a conversation with almost all of them. Here was my chance to talk to them about David. Most had said they knew who he was, but many had never heard him sing anything other than “Crush”, on the radio. They most certainly had not seen him perform ‘live’. I assured them that they were going to be blown away by David, though I am pretty sure they did not believe me.

As the lights dimmed and it was time for David and his band to take the stage, I felt so much excitement rise up inside me. This was it, the time when these Demi fans were going to be absolutely amazed at David and his voice.

David came out singing “A Little Too Not Over You”. When he was through, there was thunderous clapping and screams everywhere. The power and emotion in his voice, and the way he hits the notes is really something to behold. With each new song, I began to hear some comments around me like… “Wow, he is really good!” and “Aw, he is just too cute, I really like him!” And with each song David performed, the comments from Demi’s fans kept getting better and better. They really liked David!

As David’s time on the stage was coming to an end, he sang “Apologize” while he accompanied himself on the piano. I saw these Demi fans watch in awe and I heard one comment, “I think I like the way he sang that better than the original. Man he has a beautiful voice!” I was so happy that they were getting it. They were experiencing the power of David Archuleta, because hearing David sing really is something very special, and now these Demi fans were understanding that.

When David was finished, some of the Demi fans commented to me that I was right, he is an incredible singer and they wanted to go out and buy his album. I was not surprised! Honestly, there are not many singers, in my opinion, that sound better ‘live’ than on a recording, but David is one of those singers!

Yep, David may be the “opening act” but he is gaining new fans every time he hits that stage. He is leaving them wanting more! He really is irresistible. He won’t be an opening act for long, I am sure of that! 😉

Rumor has it that David Archuleta’s people are searching for venues so David can perform on his own to make up for the concerts that have been cancelled.  What a trooper!!!!  This is fabulous!!!  How special is this young man to do this for his fans so they will not be dissappointed.  Let’s hope they can find another venue – but if they don’t the fact David would do this shows what kind of person and entertainer he has become.  The most professional, caring and thoughtful of artists to ever come our way.  Thank you so much David for your thoughtfulness.
