Songs David Archuleta is beginning a new chapter in his music career this week with the release of his latest single on Tuesday from his upcoming album Other Side of Down. His record label Jive has set a tentative date of release for the new album on September 14th.

Many fans have been anxiously waiting for something new from David since his self-titled debut album from 2008. It was August of that year when he released his hit song “Crush.” That was almost two years ago, and though David did release a Christmas album last October, we fans are hungry for some new, more original music from him. So on Tuesday, what a treat it will be when we can buy David’s new single from his official website and iTunes.

To get us warmed up for that day…..

The Song of the Week is…

“Something ‘Bout Love”

“Something ‘Bout Love” is co-written by David Archuleta, Sam Hollander, Dave Katz and Chris DeStefano and produced by S*M* & Sluggo for Jive Records. It is an upbeat dance tune with a positive message about love. David’s voice is beautiful and strong as he tells us that love is difficult, painful and it will break your heart, but love is also wonderful, uplifting and a special part of life. “Something ‘Bout Love” is a very radio friendly song and I think it will be a big hit for David this summer. It has already been tested out on various stations all over the country and reports have been very positive. The song will be released for radio play, also known as the radio impact date, on August 2nd.  I for one cannot wait to hear this song blasting over the airwaves, it is so catchy!

Now for your listening pleasure, here is David’s new single “Something ‘Bout Love”:

Hope everyone has a lovely week and please be sure to purchase David’s new song on Tuesday! 😉

Take care,
Katie

Well, as I write this it’s about 3:30 a.m. West Coast time on Tuesday, July 20th, and I really need to get to bed! Nevertheless, I just had to report in that “Something ‘Bout Love” is currently #140 overall on iTunes and #58 on iTunes Pop Chart. Not bad for a few hours work! Looking forward to watching it climb some more — that is, after I get some rest!

UPDATE: It’s now about 2:00 p.m., less than 12 hours since my last post, and SBL is burning up the charts! Current standings: #34 overall on iTunes and #16 on iTunes Pop Chart. Not bad for a song that has received no more than a handful of spins on the radio. Next stop: Top 10!

hey Honeybees, it’s great to hear the good news about “Something ’bout Love”! Thanks for all the info, Katheryn. And Cathy, you know there’s gonna be a whole lot of smiling and dancing when we all hear David’s new song…and see the music video!

And, as always, Katie, AKA, bigarchiefan, has chosen THE perfect Song of the Week. Gr8T job, Katie!

I’m busy setting up a new network for several computers, so I haven’t had a lot of time on the Internet. Will catch up next week.
