‘Moon’ is DA Buzzing’s Secret Word for the month of July (see sidebar). It’s the perfect word, not only because the zodiac sign of Cancer is ruled by the Moon, and not only because the Apollo 11 Moon Landing happened 40 years ago, but also — and of special interest to us David Archuleta fans — the word ‘moon’ occurs only once in all the songs on his debut album. As we read the lyrics of “To Be with You,” let’s remember astronauts Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin Jr, those brave souls who slipped the surly bonds of Earth and landed on the Moon.

Remembering Apollo 11
What I remember most is being at my first ticker tape parade on August 13, 1969. The celebration honoring the Apollo astronauts had kicked off early that day in New York City. By noon The Loop in Chicago was packed with thousands who wanted to glimpse the moon travelers. The festivities ended with a parade and dinner in Los Angeles. Three parades in one day: I don’t know if this has happened again since then. It was Moon Madness. I think it must be akin to ODD, because I know many Honeybees who would travel to three concerts in one day!
