Admiring David’s Character….

I have written something and I would like to share it with all of you. I apologize in advance for it being very long but it is truly from the heart.

I have been a huge fan of David James Archuleta for 5 years now. I first saw him as a shy 13 year old boy who always smiled and barely spoke when he was spoken to. I have had the pleasure of watching him change from that shy boy in front of the camera at 13 to this strong young man he is today.

he has had to over come so much from such a young age. I can’t even imagine how devastating it must have been for this beautiful young child to hear that he has vocal paralysis and may not be able to achieve his dream of being a singer. he must have been so sadden and disillusioned about his future especially since this was right after he won Star Search and could see his dream right at the horizon in front of him.

but still this child did not give up and he kept his faith stronger than ever knowing that GOD had plans for him and he will be able to achieve his heart’s desire no matter what. I cannot tell you how much I admire him for that. to be so young and have such strong faith in GOD to know there is something special out there for him. he is the inspiration I use to face all the troubles I have had in the past and he shows me that through faith in GOD and a strong will you can overcome anything.

he is such an open and kind-hearted person to the point that even the worst of this world do not get him down and take over him. he has what it takes even at only 18 to rise above it and move on to something more positive and helpful.

he is so humble and so caring that even when things are suppose to be about him he makes it about other people and gives them the spotlight that should have been his and lets them shine. he is very content to stay in the background, I love how he gives his voice to causes that are so close to his heart like rising star outreach. he doesn’t have to do that; he could have just quietly gave a donation and never talked about it. but he has such a wonderful spirit that he decided to help get the word out on the awful things going on in the world and to give these charities a voice. I can’t imagine other kids doing such a thing instead of focusing on their new found stardom. he is truly a beautiful light of hope for so many reasons and I am so proud of him. I cannot wait to see how he turns out in the future, and with or without his music he will be a force in this world to be reckoned with and to take notice. if I had kids or grandkids he would be the role model I would want them to look up to. he is so very rare.

I love that he is willing to give anyone and everyone a chance and their rights and the respect they deserve simply for being a human being.  No matter what he keeps going and trying to leave a positive loving mark on this world. I wish him the best and I pray that all his dreams keep coming true.

Hello everyone! I too was at the LA and Vegas concerts and David was amazing at both! I met up with Anita, Pam and Geri in LA and met GenGen in Vegas as well as many other new friends. I took my mom with me in Vegas where she lives and she was a Cook fan when Idol was on. She actually said after hearing the concert “David A. actually should have won Idol – he has a much better voice then Cook and is very versatile”. I treated her to the Meet and Greet and she got the biggest kick out of David’s charm and cute ramblings. She could now believe how humble and down to earth he was. She is a fan for life now!

My husband also went to the Vegas concert (but not the VIP) and said David had a great voice. Lastly, when I got home, my 16 year old son (also named David) put on the black I Love David Archuleta t-shirt and posted it on his facebook page! He went with me to the Del Mar concert and also thought David was very talented and asked if he sang Zero Gravity which is his favorite.

Great friends and family time and best of all EXCELLENT David time!

O Pioneer Day!

Wasatch Mountains
The Wasatch Mountains of Utah

Today is Pioneer Day. On July 24, 1847, Brigham Young and his faithful followers first arrived in the Great Salt Lake Basin after a long 17-month journey across 1,297 arduous miles. My thoughts were of these hardy pioneers last October as my jumbo jet glided over the beautiful Salt Lake Valley and its ring of snow-capped mountains. Pulling wagonloads of all that they owned, the 19th century pioneers walked every step of the way to their Land of Golden Opportunity, seeking freedom from religious persecution and a place of refuge. Looking out at the Valley protected by the formidable Wasatch Mountains, I realized on that bright October day what those early pioneers knew, that “this is the place.” Those mountains provide an unbroken circle of protection and shelter.

Fifty years after their arrival, the early Mormon settlers held the first Pioneer Day. The parade featured a giant model beehive with young women dressed as bees. Just four years earlier, the Salt Lake Temple had been completed after a forty-year building project. There was much to celebrate on that first Pioneer Day.

Today Utah continues to attract new pioneers who lead the way with innovations in energy, environment, science & technology, engineering, and personalized medicine. The pioneering spirit is alive and well in Utah and the future holds great promise. Although David is miles from home today, we can be sure he will think about Pioneer Day. The DA Buzzing Honeybees would like to wish all Utahns a happy Pioneer Day.

Admin Note: This post is a Sticky, meaning it will remain at the top of the blog for the duration of Pioneer Day. Newer posts will come after this.

Christmas on its Way
Christmas on its Way—Photo by Pam Pike, July 2009

The word is David Archuleta is in the planning phase for his Christmas Concerts! When! Where! How many? Don’t know yet! But I can hear sleigh bells, smell chestnuts roasting, visualize a winter wonderland, watch him rock around a Christmas Tree and perhaps hope for a romantic song that warms our heart. Ohooo! The new scarves he’ll be wearing, the sweaters that match his eyes and the red Santa Hat that makes him look like the present we all have been waiting for. Did I say Ahhhh yet?

Ok, slap cold water on my face! Just shake me a little! The thought of David and Christmas is just too much! Four months away, how will I ever last until I book that concert? THE Christmas Album should be out before then, I will be busy buying every copy in sight for all those stocking stuffers for family and friends. Yes I know what some people must be saying, it’s only the end of July, but my ODD jumps ahead often, it’s in overdrive but David singing all those lovely Christmas songs makes my heart twitter just a little. Yeahhh! Christmas and David will soon be here.
