Review of Glendale Arizona Concert

from The Daily Advertiser – by Ed Masley 7/10/2009 – The Arizona Republic

American Idol Fans were treated to a warm-up set by David Archuleta, whose wholesome boy next door appeal was not lost on the girl whose sign read “David, take me to the temple.” And the likeability that helped him make it to the “idol” finals was in full effect.

But Archuleta’s set felt tentative and slightly amateurish compared with the 16 year old at the top of the bill.  The vocals were there for the most part, although Randy Jackson may have had to tell him “That was pitchy dawg” a few times early on.  And the songs were fine for what they are.  But there was nothing to suggest that he could ever hold his own against Lovato.

……………………………………………………………………………

This review really hit a sore spot with David’s fans and they literally blasted this reviewer to no end…..many comments from fans were…..

So Off Base!   Missed the Mark on David Archuleta!  So off the mark it’s laughable!!  Lovato fans are becoming David Archuleta fans each night after watching him!  You are so off the article!  Could not give an objective review if your life depended on it!!

And it went on and on and on for four pages.  This was through Google Alerts today, but I thought you might like to go and read the entire review.  My personal opinion: it is so off base and it’s possible this guy does not like American Idol and finds David’s music not to his liking.  What concerns me is that some reviews are not fair and seem to highlight the Disney Machine since many of his remarks posed in that direction.  I am sure he got the message that his review was not appreciated and his lack of knowledge on David Archuleta’s talent is somewhat missing the mark.  Perhaps in the future he will be less candid and more accurate when reviewing great talent.

72 songs and counting…

I was going over my i-Tunes library today. I have 72 performances by David Archuleta on my i-Pod. More than any other artist I have downloaded to my MP3 player. Why? Because I can’t get enough of that young man’s voice! Whether it is his perfomance of “Heaven” from Hollywood week on American Idol, or the Deluxe version of his self titled debut album, I have them all! My latest edition was his Fan Bundle which included his cover of “A Thousand Miles” as well as “Zero Gravity”. But I also have many ‘live’ songs that I have downloaded from the internet, all obtained legally I should add. And all from fans who have shared their recordings of David’s performances at the Jingle Jams and various other concerts they have attended.

Of course I have all of his performances from American Idol and his song “Let’s Talk About Love” that he recorded for charity through Build a Bear. I was also able to get his song “Save the Day” which was only released in Japan. I love that one…it should have made the US album. I even have a few songs David recorded when he was much younger. His voice has gotten deeper but no matter the age, it is still the voice of an angel. A voice that touches me like no other.

Honestly, I never tire of listening to David’s songs over and over again. I do it on a daily basis. When I am in the car, I listen to David. When I am cleaning the house, I listen to David. When I go to the gym, I listen to David and when I settle in to bed, I listen to none other than…David! His voice is more soothing than any lullabye I have ever heard.

There have been reports that David is currently working on a Christmas album and a second album that will come out sometime next year. I can’t wait to get my hands on new songs from David Archuleta. Thankfully, I still have plenty of room on my i-Pod for more songs from David, because whatever he sings, I want to listen to it. Yep that’s right, I have 72 songs and counting. Thank goodness for MP3 players!! 😉

Take care all,
Katie

The many faces of David Archuleta continue to amaze me as each one reveals a window of emotion and pure delight. Many of us wonder in each picture what he was feeling or thinking about at that particular moment in time.  These next three photos give us  David’s enjoyment with his fans, his expertise in timing his next number, and of course, his intensity in delivering a song.

When David performs it’s as if he has Wings, and takes us on a journey only he and Angels know about.  My soul does fly with him tucked away in his pocket and when we return I say a prayer thanking God for the beautiful gift I just received.

Do I have a CRUSH on David?  Of course! Don’t we all?

358-smAll the pictures here were taken of David in Concert in Portsmouth, England, last spring during his tour with McFly. I have a growing collection of David photos and these are a few of my favorites. None of these pictures have been posted on any websites—you are the first to see them. Over the next few days, I will be posting a series of these beautiful photos of David performing our favorite songs.360-sm Please click on the two thumbnail pictures to enlarge them. They are so much more exciting to look at with some of the emotions showing on his face. You’ll see David up close and personal. I took these close–up shots right up against the stage from the floor. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Michael Jackson, a star who burned brightly and died in a flash, will always be remembered. Artists, in particular, will acknowledge how Jackson influenced them in song, dance, and performance.

Rest in Peace, Michael.
