My Dinner with David

17 February 2009

It was a rainy cold evening and walking into the private dining room my heart jumped a beat as I noticed the room was set for 18 people, intimate and cozy.  There were stacks of books around the room as if it were a Regal Palace , so appropriate , as the Prince of Pop was soon to arrive.  Within a few minutes guests arrived one by one and took their seats and introduced themselves.  There was a slight nervous anticipation in the room while we waited for David and his parents.  Then softly we heard footsteps and a quiet laugh and the guest of honor appeared.  David was charming as usual and his parents were very pleased to see us.  Numerous conversations continued through dinner with many questions about his tour, writing, music and his new band.  David also mentioned how excited he was about his Pro Bowl trip to Hawaii and he said he would love to go back with his family and see more of the islands.  I mentioned Maui was beautiful and he said he would love to see it.

With his busy schedule David seemed somewhat tired and we were told that after dinner he still needed to do more rehearsing with his band.  Dinner was served and we all enjoyed watching David and his reaction to many of the courses.  At one point he wanted to know why it was good to eat garlic.  I told him in jest, it was to keep Vampires away and he thought that was funny.

After dinner it was time for everyone to have their pictures taken with him and receive their personal autographed CD.  When it came for my turn, I hugged him and said Thank You and reminded him I met him in Kansas City.  He then turned and said to me “Tulsa too”, and I said yes with a big smile, as I was amazed he would remember.  The evening drew to a conclusion and I was quietly contented but sad as the same time.  Would I ever get another meeting with David again?  Who knows, but this one will live in my memory for a lifetime!

David Archuleta’s Rep

16 February 2009

When David’s cd came out on 11/11/08, I made myself his rep for Englewood, Florida. This is a small town of about 60,000-80,000 people. So I would buy his cds and give them to people that I thought would like him. Well I hope my work is paying off (don’t know but one can only hope). Well today was a great day for me. My husband told me about this family that live in the area and that they had a daughter that went to the high school. So I went to their house and asked this lady there, do you have a daughter in high school, and she said yes, I said o good I have a gift for her. So she comes out to my car and yes I had his cd playing. So I ask her does she have a lot of friends and she said o yes, she is in the band at the school (it couldn’t get any sweeter than that) So I hand her 3 of David’s cds and 3 of his albums gifts that I get off itunes, and 8 ALTNOY from itunes. I told her to tell her daughter to give them to all her friends. She said O my God thank you. She said why and I said I am a huge fans of his and this is what fans do. Then I said do you know of him — he was runner-up on AL. She said I thought I heard that name. Then I said listen to him sing and she said I can understand the words and there are no bad words. And I said o no you will never hear that from David. Well she thanked me again and gave me a hug. So I hope tomorrow when school starts back up that there is big big buss going on here in this little old town I live in. So yes I had a great David day today.

Valentine Date, Archer-style

I read that David said an ideal Valentine’s date would be a ride on a gondola, then enjoying a dish of sherbet…or a gelato. So, just for fun, who is the mystery Valentine date in the boat with David? That is the $64,000 question.

Dinner with David

To all my fellow Honeybees, I am flying tomorrow morning into Utah for the Dinner with David.  It took several hours to decide what to wear and finally a decision was made.  Gloves, scarfs, boots, coats, toe warmers, hand warmers, ear muffs, and the extra warm PJ’s and socks are all packed and ready to go!  Now the other suitcase has all of the real clothes I’m taking.  Oh yeah, this real heavy coat I have to carry on the plane will probably take up another seat.  Yes, I know you are probably laughing, this California resident, did she even have all this?  Well, some of it; the tag is still on the coat I bought in New York, another trip with snow.  Boy, I would not do this for anyone else except David Archuleta.  I am so excited to be going and spend time in a more relaxed quiet setting.  I spoke to my friend who I will be staying with and made sure we would be taking a trip to the mall so I can get my Build A Bear and she definitely has that on her itinerary for Saturday.  I hope to have some interesting comments or a story or two to tell all of you when I get back and I will tell him how many wonderful Honeybees wish him the best!  Talk to you soon!

Let’s Talk About Love

There isn’t another singer in the world that could deliver this song other than David Archuleta and make you feel toe tapping Happy and in Love with just life itself.  There’s no secret word here that describes the Love he generates through this song.  You can see his smile, his warmth and the burst of enthusiasm for every word sung and the meaning it brings.  Promise, peace, happiness and caring for one another and the hope that the world will be a better place  in the hands of our children.  May they grow up knowing they can change the world.

David is our ambassador of Love!
