Murray Theater on the National Register of Historic Places

Tonight—right now!—Michael Johns and Brooke White are playing a concert at the Murray Theater with native Utahn Benton Paul. David Archuleta plans to meet up with his American Idol alums. They’ll probably have a party afterward.

My sister took this photo of the Murray Theater last October when we were there. It’s a pretty good photo, considering that I didn’t stop the car. We should have stopped and taken a look inside. Built in 1938 Murray Theater survives as one of Salt Lake County’s best examples of the Art Moderne style.

The theatre is located at 4961 South State Street in Murray, Utah. It was opened just in time to screen two of Hollywood’s first major color films: Gone with the Wind and The Wizard of Oz.

As God is my witness…if only I had a brain…I’d be in Murray now!

The handmade items were signed by David Archuleta; proceeds from the auction will go to Rising Star Outreach. We David Archuleta fans always enjoy reading the excellent critiques from Rosanne Simunovic, better known as ‘MasterClass Lady’. I have already given her credit for saving my sanity during the emotional roller coaster of American Idol season 7. The coverage by so-called “entertainment journalists,” biased bloggers, and rumor-mongers was atrocious. By May 2008 I would surely have been sent away for a long rest if not for MCL’s steady and thoughtful commentary. If you somehow missed her critiques of every one of David’s AI performances, read them now!

Her review of David Archuleta’s ALMA Awards performance of “Contigo en la Distancia” is a rave. But if you read the comment section, you’ll find this gem:

It is very rare indeed to hear an 18-year-old MALE singer who possesses such a strong technical hold on his vocal delivery. Yet, it is even more rare to hear someone so young who sings with such depth and maturity. David is truly special and his talent, as I have said so often, is extraordinary. He is a vocal prodigy.

I feel that David will, over the course of time, be remembered as “one of the greatest pop singers” of the 21st century.

Kids are so sweet and especially when they love David. I sent my friend an email with a picture of my first Christmas of 2009. I had the items placed on a dresser and under the items was a huge poster of David.

Well, it just so happened I was talking to my friend on the phone when she opened my email. Her 8 year old son was there at the PC with her and when he saw the picture of my “first Christmas” he said ‘Oh, that’s cool’. I heard his remark over the phone and thought he meant my Christmas treasures… but was very excited and pleased when I found out he was referring to the poster of David!

So, this boy LOVES David Archuleta. Who doesn’t, but it pleases me no end when I hear someone else have the same excitement that I have. He is going to get a Two Thumbs Up postcard to mail to David as soon as I see him.
